Young Loud and Snotty sorti en 1977 est devenu avec le temps un album culte. Formé à Cleveland, Dead Boys émigre à New york ou son style est mieux accepté, signé sur Sire Records le groupe enregistre ce premier album sous la houlette du producteur Genya Ravan ; "Sonic Reducer" tiré de Young Loud and Snotty est devenu l’hymne des Dead Boys mais aussi un classique du punk rock.
