Bad Company nait après la séparation de Free, Paul Rodgers et Simon Kirke tente une nouvelle aventure musicale en formant un supergroupe avec l’arrivée de Mick Ralphs ex-Mott The Hoople et Boz Burrell, un ex-King Crimson (albums "Islands" en 1971 et "Earthbound" en 1972). Le groupe est rapidement signé sur le nouveau Label crée par Led Zeppelin "Swan Song", le premier album de Bad Company sort en juin 1974, le Heavy rock bluesy du groupe triomphe immédiatement surtout aux states ou l’album s’arrache à plus de cinq millions d’exemplaire notamment grâce au hit phénoménal que sera "can’t get enough" écrit par Mick Ralphs.
